    1. thanks for this, Diana. I think it's a beetle not a bee, but I've sent the photo to the Melbourne Museum for id. I'll let you know the result. I hope they can id it, it's not such a clear photo.

    2. I've got the id from the Melbourne Museum! It's a cuckoo wasp from the family Chrysididae, mostly likely from the genus Chrysis. Cuckoo wasps are a group of 76 species that mostly parasitise other wasps. Like a cuckoo bird that manages to get another species to raise its chicks, these wasps use another's nest for their own young.

    1. Hi Thelma, It must have been sad to lose Peanut. My dog Potter will be 15 this year, hopefully we've got a few more years together, but who knows?

    1. Hi Beth, yes the salad was really delicious. Paula said that grass is considered a weed here, but I think it's lovely too.

  7. That is a very exotic looking insect. I think Diana is right, it looks just like the bee in her link.

    1. Hi Denise, you and Diana may be right. The colour's the same, but it didn't seem like a bee.

    1. I think it's rain. It made a lovely shine for the photo. The salad tasted divine. I grow some of those edible flowers but usually forget to use them.
