a post for my mother
Today is my mother's 100th birthday.
My mother never understood my garden, thought it was weird, dirty and untidy. Couldn't understand why I kept pulling things out and moving things around. One day we sat down and I explained it to her. It's about creating garden pictures, I said. She got it. Since then she's appreciated and loved it.
Lately she's not been so active, and hasn't been to visit for a while. Last time she visited she sat at the computer and looked at a slide show of my garden and nature photos.
Beautiful post! Beautiful Lady! Happy Birthday to your Mother. Best wishes all around.

ReplyDeleteDear Tammy, How very sad to lose both parents so young. My dad died in his fifties from cancer, and mum later met someone else, only to lose him 10 years later to cancer too.

ReplyDeleteOh, that is so sweet! Happy birthday to your mom, and continuing garden fun to you!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your Mum! 100 is an impressive milestone. My mother's birthday is on Saturday. She is 88. I wish I could be home (Nova Scotia) for her birthday celebration at my brother's home.
ReplyDeleteLucky for me, my Mum and I share a love of gardening. We don't always see eye to eye on the directions my life has taken however, so I can empathize with your Mum's lack of understanding your garden. I am glad that your she has come to appreciate it more recently. I am sure it helps you feel a closer connection to her. I send my best wishes to you both across the many miles.
That's a lovely idea, Cat.
ReplyDeleteI'm never sure if my comments 'take' this may be a duplicate.
ReplyDeleteLovely, lovely -- your Mother and your garden. My mother was the inspiration for much of my gardening, perhaps not the same plants nor methods but a love of seeing things grow.
Gorgeous pictures Catmint and happy birthday to your mum.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet way to celebrate her birthday! It's nice when we feel our momma's understand our passion. I don't think my mom really gets it, but I do know she loves to sit on the swing and listen to the birds!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely dedication! Your mother must be very healthy for her age to reach the milestone of 100. That is wonderful! And your collages of your garden are beautiful.
